Glawdys Epangue, 2012

A word about the work

(REF : CCAB004)
This studio portrait is part of a series produced for Divine which, following Body and Soul, a passion for women’s sport is the second book to be conceived and brought to fruition by Sandrine Retailleau.
The author (Sandrine) and the photographer (Catherine) met twelve exceptional sports women and captured in words and images their personal journey.
Glwadys Epangue is a taekwondo athlete. She is three times European Champion, twice World Champion and won bronze at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. To sum up, a real veteran of the sport.

I adore this girl who I’ve worked with a lot. She was also involved in the “Years for seconds” project. I wanted to see her screaming for the shot as it is so much a part of her sport. I love the influence she has on the group, she is highly respected within the French team.

Jean-Denis’s choice

The result is there. The incredible posture, she looks like a wading bird. The breadth of the pose, the power and energy coming from her. A photo that puts you in a good mood. A great photo for a great champion.
