A word about the work

The first contact was made at the beginning of the 2000, I had to take pictures for the newspaper L’Express. Three days of reporting about the ballet in the Opera in Paris. I was so happy to discover this atmosphere of beauty and work.

Then, because I wanted to renew this experience, I worked two years in the backstages of the Opera and produced a book called “a step to the stars” published by Flammarion in 2006.

Nothing predestined me to immerse myself with as much intensity and sensitivity in this world of dance. My first passion is rather the world of music and opera but in fact it was a revelation, i really enjoyed taking pictures of the ballet.

Jean-Denis’s choice

From the Paris Opera to the Bolchoi, he paid tribute to the family of the dance. Like the dancers that he observed, Gérard Uféras did his work with the same requirement, the same intensity and sensibility.
