A word about the work
(REF : CDUB002)
This photo doesn’t need a caption. Even you can’t see his face, he is Rafael Nadal and couldn’t be another guy.
I think Rafa is the most photogenic of tennis players on the circuit. It is a real pleasure to capture these tiny details that are him and no-one else.
Above and beyond the bandana, this accessory, so inseparably associated with the champion (he speaks really well about it himself : « Tightening my bandana is the last thing I do before literally getting into character»), the one thing that you cannot mistake and which identifies him without a shadow of a doubt is the small gesture with his right hand before each service, tucking a wayward strand of hair behind his right ear. The Spanish champion has a whole range of mannerisms like this. Placing his water bottles to the nearest millimeter, doing a little jump at the net during the coin toss for each of his matches, running to the base line before the 5-minute warm-up, pulling at his shorts between points. The list is almost as long as his wins !
Jean-Denis’s choice
This is Nadal, quite simply. And I adore him, quite simply.
It is almost a generic photo.
For admirers of this great champion.
