A word about the work
(REF : CDUB003)
Friday June 8th 2012. Philippe Chatrier Court, Roland Garros. Men’s semi-final. Roger Federer against Novak Djokovic. Lost in thought during a break, Roger Federer ended up losing the match in 3 sets against the Serb, the then number one.
This image could only have been taken at the end of a beautiful day with the player sheltered under a parasol. The ochre clay then turns into the French Open’s trademark orange.
Jean-Denis’s choice
There is no real need to explain why this photo is so magical. You could evoke the combination of the French Open’s particular light at that time of day, as the photographer does so modestly, along with a match where the struggling champion lets his powerlessness show. This all explains, in part, the miracle. The rest is…well, miraculous.
