Twins, photographie de Corinne Dubreuil

A word about the work

CDUB006

Final of the double men of the US Open 2014
The brothers Bryan won in the final against the Spanish pair Granollers-Lopez.
This is their 5th victory at the US Open and their 16th Grand Slam title.

I was at the top of the court for the end of the game hoping to have an original image.
But reality the point of view and the moment have surpassed all my dreams.
They both rejected their arms. I just shifted slightly my framing to get them out of the picture and only keep their shadows and the shoes on the ground.

A photography that says so much about siblings. I have known them for a very long time, the beginning of their careers and we have always had good relations.

They were very excited to discover this picture and to see, to see this moment : the synchronization of their movements.

Jean-Denis’s choice

It’s a crazy picture. Not only a simple joy after victory.
The symmetry of the shadows tells us a lot about the story of these twins.
The reflex of the author to shake his framing to keep only the shadows is an instant of pure genius.
A risk that took the photographer to transform this simple photography into a hymn to fraternity and to the history of tennis.
It shows the story and the fusional relationship of these two champions, Mike and Bob Bryan, since their birth.
A rare picture.
This image received the “Grand Prix Nikon” of the best image of the year at the festival SPORTFOLIO 2015.
